The candidate will have the ability to have monkeys fly out of his or her ass

I love reading bad job requirements. The person (or should I say cyborg) who gets this position to destined to have the end of a shotgun in their mouth within 3 months.

The ideal candidate will have two to four years of management experience and a deep knowledge of Web services technologies, an MVC framework such as Django or Ruby on Rails as well as experience with Flash AS3, Flex and XML. The successful applicant has expertise in contemporary web design and development techniques, including  knowledge of HTML, CSS and Javascript (JQuery, Prototype). Candidates should have experience with web APIs and experience integrating data, audio, and video to drive Flash multimedia presentations. The qualified candidate must be a detail oriented individual with ability to handle tight deadlines, work well under pressure and prioritize multiple projects with strong leadership skills.

  1. The irony about job postings like this is that the person posting is guaranteed to have almost no real, usable skills other than the ability to name a bunch of technologies they’ve been told to look for.

  2. I’m not qualified to do anything, but that’s never stopped me from making stuff that absolutely kicks ass. A lot of the skills listed in job descriptions are commodities. Rarely do you see a company looking for someone with imagination — but that’s what changes the world.

  3. Moreover, (or moron-over) is there anyone at that company who knows whether or not the candidate ACTUALLY has those skills or what those skills even ARE? Is there a test? And what were you thinking? Of course, they want someone to do it ALL. It’s called maximizing revenue. And why would it take three months? I miss your daily optimism, Chance.

  4. I work well under pressure for about three weeks. Then I shoot all my colleagues.
